The ominous-sounding title is directed at people who reach this post in the "usual" way: by working backwards from the [apparently] most recent posts.

The first post that I made in this journal is the one titled "Hello, world", which is dated Nov. 22nd, 2008.  That is the true date that it was posted; and the apparent posting date is, similarly, the real posting date for all entries in this journal whose apparent posting date is later than that.  In other words, if you are looking at an entry which says that it was posted after Nov. 22nd, 2008, then it really was posted when it says it was.

On the other hand, this post, and all those that appear to be earlier, do not show their actual dates of posting on LiveJournal.

Why not?  Because they were originally posted on another blog, at Radio Userland.  When I decided to copy them to my LiveJournal, I gave them the dates (but generally not the time of day) that they were originally posted at the Radio blog.

Just to make things more confusing, the first post in the Radio blog also carried the title, "Hello, World".  Ah, but if you are truly observant, you will have noticed that the capitalization is different.

That is all.  You may now proceed, if you dare, into the realm in which things are not when they seem.
